Richmond Metropolis Corridor
is ripe for change
Thanks in your Oct. 5 editorial (“Richmond voters ought to cease decimation of Police Division,” Web page A6) and endorsements of non-Richmond Progressive Alliance (RPA) candidates for mayor (Shawn Dunning) and Metropolis Council (Soheila Bana, Cesar Zepeda and Oscar Garcia).
This election is crucial — one RPA win means continued management of the Metropolis Council. The RPA makes selections in response to their ideology, whatever the pursuits of others. We'd like democracy returned to Richmond.
Along with gravely decreasing the police drive, the RPA’s poor selections have: discouraged enterprise by exorbitant Measure U taxation, diminished leases because of lease management, failed the homeless regardless of funding, and led to litigation and doable metropolis chapter.
We'd like smarter, skilled leaders who reply to town’s wants — and might work collectively to beat divisiveness and hostility.
The RPA controls the Metropolis Council as a result of RPA supporters vote. Please vote for candidates who will make selections for the great of Richmond — not in response to an ideology.

San Ramon Valley
faculties want Petersen
Among the many three candidates for the one aggressive San Ramon Valley Unified Faculty District Board seat in November’s election, one candidate stands out.
Michelle Petersen has an extended document of working in San Ramon Valley faculties as a volunteer and PTA president. A former firefighter, she is going to deliver distinctive management expertise to the board.
Jesse Van Zee, one among her opponents, describes the academics’ affiliation as a “particular curiosity group.” This disqualifies him as a critical candidate, and he has a transparent right-wing agenda out of tune with the SRVUSD group.
Her different opponent, Jerome Pandell, has didn't win election up to now and is an ineffective campaigner.
As a former board member and chair of the services oversight committee for a lot of years, I imagine it’s vital to elect Michelle Petersen. She is endorsed by many native and state officers — they belief her.

Political limbo is
an indication of crucial considering
Many people are in political limbo. It’s okay. It’s known as crucial considering.
The Lafayette Faculty Board saved youngsters in distance studying months longer than required. Even now, have a look at its District Targets. No point out of long-needed afterschool care nor vitamin, enormously vital post-pandemic. Plus, “well being and security” are lumped collectively in a single imprecise bullet level. This omission is very regarding contemplating faculty shootings and the demise of our personal faculty crossing guard.
The board’s failure to “advocate for kids” enormously contributes to my questioning of trusted establishments. However that’s precisely what I would like for youths. Whereas we could not all the time agree, I would like our faculties to be educating college students the best way to respectfully perceive a number of viewpoints, use their brains and assume critically.
Electing new voices provides us that. You will have three particular person votes. Use all or simply some. Our youngsters and group might be higher for it.
