FOLSOM — An inmate died after being attacked within the recreation yard of a Northern California jail, authorities mentioned Sunday.
Employees used chemical brokers to quell the incident after the assault Saturday at California State Jail, Sacramento, the Division of Corrections and Rehabilitation mentioned in a press release.
Regardless of live-saving measures, Nathan Marcus was pronounced useless shortly after 2:30 p.m., the assertion mentioned.
Two fellow inmates, Tyler Yates and Gregory Roach, are suspected within the dying, which is being investigated as a murder, officers mentioned. Yates and Roach have been moved to a segregation unit in the course of the investigation.
Marcus, 33, was serving two consecutive sentences for crimes together with evading a police officer and possession of a lethal weapon by a prisoner.
The jail in Sacramento is a high-security facility housing greater than 1,750 inmates.
