OAKLAND — Alameda County prosecutors have dismissed human trafficking and pimping prices in opposition to a person as a result of an obvious lack of cooperation from the alleged sufferer.
Nile Steward, 32, was arrested in January on prices that he trafficked a teen woman and threatened her with a gun when she resisted. Steward’s preliminary listening to had been set for late February, and the alleged sufferer was ordered by a choose to seem along with her lawyer.
However simply two weeks later, in mid-March prosecutors moved to dismiss the fees, citing an uncooperative witness, court docket data present. Steward was launched from jail later that day.
Although Steward wasn’t arrested till final January, the fees stemmed from allegations made by the sufferer that coated a time interval in October 2021. The woman claimed she delayed reporting Steward to police as a result of she was afraid of him, and waited till July 2022, when he was arrested and briefly held in an unrelated investigation.
