Final summer season, former College of Utah defensive lineman John Penisini retired from soccer after two seasons with the Detroit Lions.
Now, the 25-year-old is coming again to the NFL.
On Monday, the Carolina Panthers formally introduced they'd signed Penisini.
This got here after agent David Canter introduced Saturday on social media that Penisini could be headed to Carolina — Penisini responded to that by saying, “Run it again.”

Penisini performed two seasons for the Lions — who drafted the previous West Jordan Excessive standout in 2020 — earlier than retiring final June. He handled shoulder points early in his NFL profession and underwent surgical procedure to have massive plenty faraway from each of his shoulders, in line with The Detroit Information.
After lacking the 2022 season, although, Penisini is again within the NFL, becoming a member of a Detroit workforce that simply missed the playoffs final season.
As a rookie in 2020, Penisini, a sixth-round draft choice, began 12 video games for the Lions.
He performed in 32 video games for Detroit and had 49 tackles, 4 tackles for loss, one sack, one move deflection and a fumble restoration.
