A Duchesne County man is going through prison prices accusing him of impersonating a police officer to seek out out protected details about an investigation involving a member of the family.
The 59-year-old man was charged Friday in eighth District Courtroom with obstructing justice, a second-degree felony, and impersonating an officer, a category B misdemeanor.
On Feb. 28, Roosevelt police had been investigating a intercourse abuse case involving a toddler. A forensic nurse with the Heart for Secure and Wholesome Households knowledgeable officers that "because of the proof right now" a sexual assault examination wouldn't be performed on the kid as a result of "it didn't meet their protocol," in accordance with a police reserving affidavit.
When one of many officers returned to the police division, the chief informed him the woman's grandfather had spoken to him "and was involved there was nothing carried out within the case involving his granddaughter," the affidavit states. The arresting officer famous that the grandfather's alleged actions may hurt the investigation, saying he "impersonated a police officer/detective with the intent to deceive (the nurse) into acquiring details about the continued investigation."
