Twenty-eight ambulances have been referred to as to the College of Massachusetts campus in Amherst amid stories of extreme consuming at an early St. Patrick’s Day get together Saturday.
The Amherst Hearth Division and UMass officers stated “many college students have been noticed carrying plastic gallon containers, believed to be ‘borgs,’” stated a press release from chief college spokesman Ed Blaguszewski.
A borg – or “blackout rage gallon” – is a combination of vodka, water and sports activities drink powder or caffeinated taste drops that has develop into in style not too long ago on campuses, having been touted on TikTok as a “hangover-proof” binge consuming technique.
The scholars have been collaborating within the Blarney Blowout, an annual pre-St. Patrick’s occasion that’s not sanctioned by the college.
The college had not beforehand seen such a “notable use of borgs,” in keeping with Blaguszewski’s assertion, and introduced it should “contemplate steps to enhance alcohol schooling and intervention.”
