MARTINEZ — A Contra Costa jury convicted an Antioch man of first-degree homicide Monday, in a case stemming from a November 2020 capturing that occurred after the defendant and the suspect engaged in fistfights.
Steven Wade, 34, was discovered responsible of murdering 40-year-old Antioch resident Curtis Gaines. His sentencing date has been set for June and he stays jailed within the meantime.
Gaines was fatally shot in Antioch on the afternoon Nov. 5, 2020. Authorities say he and Wade had a private battle and that on the afternoon in query, Wade challenged him to a combat close to West twentieth and A streets.
