East Bay man arrested in Marin County for prowling, dog seized

A San Rafael trespassing suspect who challenged police to fireplace a taser at him allegedly turned so violent that officers discovered it essential to deploy the weapon, police stated.

Cops approached Jonathan Christopher Evans, 26, of Oakland on Marinita Avenue shortly earlier than 9 p.m. Sunday after two close by residents reported he entered their properties, stated police Lt. Scott Eberle.

Police detained Evans and instructed him they have been going to arrest him on suspicion of trespassing and prowling. The suspect then tried to flee, Eberle stated.

The officers “continued to attempt to de-escalate” the scenario, and one drew a Taser. Evans swiped on the weapon and “was violently twisting and thrashed to interrupt free from officers,” earlier than telling them to let him go or use the weapon, Eberle stated.

The officer fired the weapon at Evans and, though the leads hit him within the stomach, they “didn't seem to make contact together with his pores and skin,” and Evans tried to run, Eberle stated. Officers have been in a position to chase him down, “power him to the bottom” and handcuff him, Eberle stated.

Sooner or later within the fray, a canine that had been with Evans bit three officers, breaking pores and skin on two, Eberle stated. Animal management officers took custody of the canine.

Evans was arrested on suspicion of felony battery on a police officer and obstruction, in addition to misdemeanor trespassing, prowling and drug possession. He was booked into Marin County Jail, the place he remained Wednesday.
