California is committing to a plan that may make it the primary US state to part out gas-fueled furnaces and water heaters in properties, a transfer environmentalists are betting will present a template for different states.
The Golden State will ban the sale of all new pure gas-fired house heaters and water heating home equipment by 2030, underneath a proposal unanimously authorised by the California Air Sources Board on Thursday.
“We’re actually hopeful that that is the start of a domino impact and different states will observe California’s lead,” stated Leah Louis-Prescott, a senior affiliate at RMI , a non-profit targeted on the transition to wash power.
