Bay Area News Group boys high school athlete of the week: Luke Baker, San Ramon Valley football

San Ramon Valley quarterback Luke Baker has been named Bay Space Information Group boys highschool athlete of the week for Sept. 5-10 after he acquired 16,405 votes (45.21%) by the 5 p.m. deadline Wednesday.

Acalanes soccer participant Trevor Rogers completed second and Archbishop Riordan soccer participant King-Njhsanni Wilhite positioned third.

Congratulations to all of the candidates for this week’s recognition.

Baker, a 5-10, 180-pound junior, was spectacular in a 35-28 victory at residence over Elk Grove. He accomplished 28 of 41 passes for 426 yards and 4 touchdowns because the Wolves improved to 2-0.

In a season-opening 41-7 win over Classic, Baker threw for 208 yards and two TDs on 14-of-17 passing.
