A magnitude 4.4 earthquake was recorded Monday afternoon close to Topaz Lake, the U.S. Geological Survey stated.
The quake, at 1:44 p.m., was centered between Coleville and the California-Nevada line.
Early responses to the USGS Did You Really feel It web site got here from a swath of Northern California from Lake Tahoe to as far west as Interstate 5.
The epicenter is close to that of a magnitude 6.0 earthquake in July 2021. Within the 4 hours after that quake, the Antelope Valley, alongside the Walker River, recorded six aftershocks of magnitude 4 or larger.
