Small plane crashes in San Jose neighborhood after it hit utility pole

SAN JOSE — A small airplane crashed Friday evening close to Reid-Hillview Airport and landed in an East San Jose residential neighborhood after hitting a utility pole, police and witnesses mentioned.

The pilot was injured and transported from the scene of the crash, which occurred close to the intersection of Ocala Avenue and Karl Road.

“It hit a fireplace pole,” San Jose police Sgt. Patrick Guire mentioned.

The highest of the utility pole was splintered and its electrical tools had been knocked off the construction, this information group’s observations on the crash website confirmed.

“There are downed powerlines close to the accident website within the 2100 block of Evelyn Avenue,” the police Twitter feed acknowledged.

Witnesses mentioned they noticed the pilot mendacity on the bottom close to the wrecked airplane earlier than being transported from the scene.

“One grownup male pilot was transported to an area hospital with critical accidents,” the San Jose Police Division acknowledged on its Twitter account. “No different accidents have been reported.”

“It scares me,” Cano mentioned. “The airport issues me.”

Cano grew up within the neighborhood and says airplane accidents, crashes and near-misses occur all too usually.

Overfelt Excessive Faculty, Clyde Fischer Center Faculty, Donald Meyer Elementary, a girls and boys clubhouse and Hank Lopez Neighborhood Middle, together with scores of houses, are positioned with a block or two of the crash website.

“They actually need to shut this airport as quickly as potential,” Cano mentioned.
