WHITTIER, Calif. (AP) — An officer with Southern California’s Whittier Police Division was killed in a weekend motorbike crash whereas off obligation, authorities stated.
Lanell Whitfield died within the crash Saturday afternoon within the metropolis of Lynwood, south of downtown Los Angeles, the division stated in an announcement.
“Officer Whitfield was a beloved associate and pal, and a devoted protector of the group,” the assertion stated.
Whitfield, who was in his 20s, grew to become a Whittier police officer final October after working for the LA County Sheriff’s Division, the Los Angeles Occasions reported Sunday. He's survived by his mother and father, police stated.
The sheriff’s division is investigating the crash, the Occasions stated.
