Pink Floyd reunited to report its first new track in 28 years to protest in opposition to the invasion of Ukraine.
The track “Hey Hey, Rise Up!” options David Gilmour and Nick Mason, with Man Pratt taking part in the bass and Nitin Sawhney on the keys, sampling a track from Andriy Khlynyuk, a Ukraine-born singer for the band BoomBox, per The Guardian.
Khlynyuk ended his U.S. tour to return residence and defend his residence in Kyiv. The singer posted the track “The Pink Viburnum” on Instagram, a protest track that was written throughout World Conflict I.
Gilmour was moved by Khlynyuk’s efficiency. His daughter-in-law and grandchildren are Ukrainian and he thought the track was a “highly effective second,” per The Hill.
“It was a robust second that made me need to put it to music,” he mentioned.
Per BBC Information, Gilmour discovered a video of Khlynyuk’s track on Twitter and mentioned it displayed the ”anger at a superpower invading a peaceable nation.” Now, Pink Floyd has joined Khlynyuk to assist his message.
The band mentioned the Ukrainian singer is within the hospital after being hit by shrapnel.
“We, like so many, have been feeling the fury and the frustration of this vile act of an unbiased, peaceable democratic nation being invaded and having its individuals murdered by one of many world’s main powers,” Gilmour mentioned, per CNN.
