Ukraine photos: Russian advances in the south, elsewhere stall

LVIV, Ukraine  — The humanitarian disaster in Ukraine deepened Monday as Russian forces intensified their shelling and meals, water, warmth and medication grew more and more scarce, in what the nation condemned as a medieval-style siege by Moscow to batter it into submission.

A 3rd spherical of talks between the 2 sides ended with a high Ukrainian official saying there had been minor, unspecified progress towards establishing protected corridors that will enable civilians to flee the preventing.
