UN Security Council to meet on Ukraine crisis

MOSCOW — The U.N. Safety Council will maintain an emergency assembly Monday evening after Russian President Vladimir Putin acknowledged the independence of separatist areas in jap Ukraine and ordered Russian troops to “keep the peace” there.

The assembly comes on the request of Ukraine, the US and 6 different nations. Russia, which presently holds the rotating council presidency, has scheduled it for 9 p.m. New York time. But undetermined is whether or not the assembly might be open or closed.

Ukrainian U.N. Ambassador Sergiy Kyslytsya says in a letter to his Russian counterpart that Kyiv is requesting the pressing assembly as a result of Putin’s actions violate Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, the U.N. Constitution and a 2014 U.N. Normal Meeting decision.

It's nearly sure the Safety Council won't take any motion or concern any assertion as a result of Russia has veto energy.
