Two arrested on suspicion of arson after fires in Clayton, Pittsburg

Two males suspected of setting fires in Contra Costa County final week have been arrested, authorities stated Tuesday.

The fires have been set in Pittsburg and Clayton, and neither induced an harm.

In a press release from Contra Costa Fireplace Safety District spokesman Steve Hill, the company stated investigators arrested a 42-year-old Oakley resident following a blaze Saturday within the 3700 block of Railroad Avenue in Pittsburg and a 57-year-old Harmony man after a hearth Friday within the 1500 block of Kirker Go Street in Clayton.

Within the Saturday blaze, hearth crews and police have been dispatched after an individual was reported to be opening hearth hydrants. The Oakley resident informed first responders he set a hearth in a close-by enterprise that was unoccupied, Hill stated.

Fireplace crews eliminated a small container with burning materials inside, Hill stated. There was no injury to the enterprise.

The suspect was arrested on suspicion of arson to property and tampering with a utility, in keeping with the company.

A day earlier, hearth crews responded to a big particles hearth on the rear door a enterprise. Hill stated the hearth induced injury to the outside of the enterprise and prolonged inside it.

In line with Hill, investigators obtained video surveillance that confirmed a person sporting a black jacket, black pants and a purple T-shirt within the space when the incident began. Harmony cops stopped a person sporting the identical garments who admitted to fireside investigators that he was within the space on the time of the hearth, Hill stated. Authorities arrested him on suspicion of arson to an inhabited construction, Hill stated.

Each males remained in custody Tuesday on the Martinez Detention Facility.
