Santa Clara County jail death under investigation after man found in cell

SAN JOSE – Authorities are investigating an in-custody loss of life reported on the Santa Clara County Most important Jail in San Jose over the weekend.

Correctional deputies have been conducting a routine examine at about 1 a.m. Sunday once they discovered a 27-year-old man unresponsive inside his cell, sheriff’s Deputy Russell Davis stated in a information launch.

Davis stated deputies carried out CPR and different life-saving measures, and at 1:08 a.m., paramedics arrived and took the person to a neighborhood hospital. He was pronounced useless at about 3:40 p.m. Sunday.

Davis stated there have been no indicators of foul play and that the person was alone in his cell on the time.

The sheriff’s workplace didn't establish the person, however stated he was booked into jail in February 2020 in reference to a murder. The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner’s Workplace has not launched his identify pending his formal identification and notification of his subsequent of kin.
