Authorities identify motorcyclist killed in crash on Highway 101 in San Jose

SAN JOSE — A motorcyclist killed in a crash final week on Freeway 101 has been recognized by authorities.

Forty-seven-year-old Leonard Melo of San Jose died in a Jan. 28 crash, officers stated.

The collision was reported at 1:13 a.m. on southbound 101 within the space of Freeway 87, in keeping with California Freeway Patrol officer Ross Lee. Melo was driving a 2008 Harley Davidson when he “misplaced management” of the automobile and collided with the middle median on the freeway.

A 40-year-old passenger stated he had been touring “at a excessive charge of velocity,” authorities stated. Each have been ejected from the bike and fell onto the roadway. Melo was pronounced useless after emergency personnel arrived.

The lady had “important accidents” and was taken to a hospital. Police stated they don’t consider alcohol or medication have been concerned.

All lanes of southbound 101 have been closed and visitors was diverted to Freeway 87, in keeping with Lee. The proper lane was opened after half-hour whereas the remainder of the lanes remained closed for round three hours till about 4:30 a.m.
