SUSANVILLE — A 19-year-old man sentenced final 12 months to life in jail for homicide was killed by two different inmates at a state jail, California corrections officers stated Tuesday.
Workers at Excessive Desert State Jail in Susanville noticed inmates Christopher Dolan and Michael Ellison assault Michael Hastey with manufactured weapons final Friday morning in an train yard, officers alleged.
Correctional officers broke up the assault with chemical brokers and batons and began medical therapy however Hastey died about an hour later, authorities stated.
Jail officers and the Lassen County Sheriff’s Workplace are investigating the loss of life as a murder.
In June, Hastey was sentenced in Trinity County to life in jail with the potential for parole. Information accounts stated he was convicted as an grownup for the January 2019 stabbing of Nathan Purdue throughout a jealous rage.
Dolan, 30, is serving an almost six-year sentence from Ventura County for assault and resisting an officer.
Ellison, 39, is serving a life sentence with chance of parole for a homicide in Riverside County. He has been in jail since 2004. Press-Enterprise experiences present he was convicted of participating within the deadly beating of a homeless man in a downtown Riverside parking zone in 2003.
He was sentenced to further time twice for making lethal weapons and twice for assaulting a fellow prisoner, as soon as in 2005 and the second time in 2017.
