Security forces opened fire on civilians in Nagaland killing 14 and injuring 11 more in the Mon district of Nagaland in three consecutive incidents of firing. One soldier reportedly also died due to firing. Subsequently, the chief minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee on Sunday extended condolences to the families of those who died in the firing incident. Amit Shah, the Indian Home Minister, also expressed his sorrow over the news of civilian casualties in a security operation in Nagaland.
