Tripura violence case: Why two journalists arrested for reporting communal violence? | The Urban Debate
On The Urban Debate today with Tanvi Shukla, tune in to the latest developments on Tripura communal violence. Two women journalists were arrested for reporting about communal violence in Tripura. Reportedly, a complaint was filed against them by a VHP (Vishva Hindu Parishad) activist because they reported about the recent communal incidents in the state. The journalists were first detained in the hotel and then they were allowed to leave. M K Venu, founding editor of The Wire said that there are numerous other occasions where the media has simply tried to report a situation, such as Delhi riots but the way they are using the law, no reporter can ever cover a riot.
