Ghulam Nabi Azad reacts on Salman Khurshid book row, says ‘comparing Hindutva with ISIS, Jihadist Islam wrong’

‘Comparing Hindutva with Jihadist Islam wrong’: Ghulam Nabi

New Delhi: Senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad has slammed Salman Khurshid for comparing Hindutva to radical jihadist groups like the Islamic State (IS) and Boko Haram in his new book ‘Sunrise Over Ayodhya: Nationhood in Our Times’.

Khurshid in the chapter called ‘The Saffron Sky’ has called Hindutva “a political version similar to the jihadist Islam of groups like the Islamic State and Boko Haram of recent years”.

Reacting to this passage, Azad said that “we” may not agree with Hindutva as a political ideology but comparing it with ISIS and Jihadist Islam is factually wrong and an exaggeration.

BJP demands removal of Salman Khurshid from Congress

Khurshid’s controversial opinion gave ammo to the BJP to sharpen its attack on Congress.

Launching a scathing attack on the grand old party and Khurshid, the saffron party said that the opposition party is weaving a web like a spider against Hindus.

Claiming that this is happening at the behest of Congress president Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia questioned their silence on the issue and demanded the removal of Khurshid from the party.

If you remain silent, then it will be clear that your ideology is also against Hindus, he added.

Complaints against Khurshid for defaming Hinduism in his new book

Khurshid’s new book on the Ayodhya verdict which was released on Wednesday talks about the Supreme Court’s landmark judgement on the Ayodhya dispute.

Meanwhile, a Delhi-based lawyer has filed a complaint with the Delhi Police seeking registration of an FIR against Khurshid on the matter.

Advocate Vivek Garg in his complaint has said that Khurshid’s opinion reflects the true mentality of Congress as they try to legitimize the radical elements of ISIS by creating an artificial equivalence with Hindus.
